Block Printing from the 1940's and 50's
These inspiring block prints are by Eileen Guthrie of Flockhart fabrics.
Late artist Eileen and sculptor husband George Kennerthson shared a love of nature and in the 1940's and 50's they created a range of handprinted fabrics using lino blocks and silkscreen printing. Their designs were inspired by the flora and fauna found in the Dorset, Berkshire and Northamptonshire countryside.
The lino blocks, screens and some fabrics have been carefully stored and archived over the years and thanks to their granddaughter Lucy Mackenzie have now been made available once more.
World of Interiors magazine May 2013 includes a feature on these inspiring artists and their designs. http://www.worldofinteriors.co.uk/
