The Art and Craft age ....

Recently I visited the amazing Victoria and Albert museum in London and took these snaps of some of the leading examples of the Art and Craft movement.....

this armchair is a classic example of the time....being carved from oak and the seat woven from rush.

This beautiful country style timber and tile vanity bench was handmade by the William Morris manufacturers in the early 1900's. It's big on character and homely and would sit beautifully in most homes regardless of their age.

This is a small part of the artichoke embroidered wallhanging by William Morris made around the 1930's.

This is a close up of the border of the Bullerswood Carpet by William Morris, a fabulous display of design using a beautiful blend of colours and textures. Made in the early 1930's.
